A few paphs in bud/bloom

I like to see the full blown buds on paphs. I also like to watch varying shapes of flowers as they open to a full form.

I loved the yellowish color on Armenii white, but now it is as white as paper! I like how the flower is attached to the stem, like a hanging lamp. That's why I thought I would throw in the shot taken from the side.
There are also lots of little chocolate spots inside the pouch.

The one in the fourth picture is missing a pouch, or it is severely deformed. also, flower doesn't look like what the flowers on this cross is supposed to look like at all.
The flower also won't open up fully. This one has been open for a couple of weeks now. haven't changed at all.
oh, well...

Green in charm is about to open up its second bud that has been tucked underneath the first bloom.
I really like this flower.

Last three are the seed grown plants of the same cross. interesting difference in flower color, shapes and forms. I like this kind of surprises.

Wow! I'm so jealous! So many beautiful Paphs! Whenever I finally settle down in one spot for more than a year I want my windows to look like yours! So hard to keep happy plants when they have to move all the time.

Greenbean- yeah, I hear your pain. I moved once, but still, not only it was such a big pain moving all the plants, but some of the plants got damaged here and there. not fun.

By the way, I'm posting more pictures.
Hsinying Delight blooms are quickly taking their dorsals into funnel shape. The green portion is rather dark than previous season, but still like the color and shape very much. I just wish the plant size were smaller.
The third bud is going to open very soon and it would look so good all three of them open!

Armeni White is slowly elongating its flower spike so it is now above the leaves. I've never seen this habit in my other paphs. They all grow their spike certain height, then flowers open, then stay that way. I like it better now that I can see the flower above the leaves.

One of maudiae alba (Hsinying Citron green apple and lawrencianum cross) is growing its spike.

Incharm greenery incharm white cross (I have two of this), one with flower already open and another bud on the way, that bud is now open. I see a third one, but not sure if it will develop into flower. will see.
Another of this cross looked very promising with five new fans going. Well, one growth with sheath aborted its sheath. no idea why. Another growth with sheath though, is on the way to flower in the near future. I can see tiny bud throught the open slip of the sheath.

all others are busy growing leaves and new fans. Now that the weather has cooled off, they seem to grow better.

My p.Armenii White had a very short spike when it first opened and the flower was stuck between leaves.
The spike grew taller over time and now it is well above the leaves. It is also making a 90 degree angle upward toward the window.

This is very funny! My other paphs do move the direction of the spikes while developing, once flowers open, they seem to be fixed at one angle and the spikes do not elongate any further.
I guess this is a habit of one of the parent species??

Oh, I'm so jealous of all of your blooming Paphs. I've some Paphs in very low sheath, in which they've been for a while, but they are soooo slow! With the rate they are going, they won't bloom until Christmas at the earliest (if I'm lucky that is).

I'm going to show them your pictures as inspiration/motivation!

I feel your pain.
Of all my paphs, Yosemite Moon&Fairrieanum cross is the slowest. I just wasn't sure if it was growing or dead.
It eventually bloom past Christmas and early January this year.

I have one maudiae alba that is showing low sheath in the first two pictures below.
Its leaves are larger than last years. All looked good and it's about time it made a spike. I didn't see anything all summer. Finally, at the end of summer, I saw something poking out of the center of the growth. I immediately thought it was a spike. As it grew more and more, it looked more and more like a leaf. what a disappointment.
but then just recently, that small new leaf popped open and there was a sheath inside. yay!

These paphs are crazy. They would make spike with or without sheath. sometimes, like this one, they make an extra small leaf before sending up a spike.

In the third picture, one of the white complex paph showing second sheath developing. It will take a while before I see the flower for sure! time to forget about it for a while for the sake of my mental health I think

No pictures here yet, but I have three others that are in low sheath. Again, I will try and forget about them for a while.

The last picture is P. Hsinying Delight with all three flowers open and mature. I LOVE this plant! The first two opened facing the same direction on the same day.
I tried hard to get the third bud to orient the same direction as the other two, but well, it had its own preference.

LOL!! thats one of the reasons why I like paphs so much .... they love to drive their owners crazy, even more funny when you read about it

Thank god they do have some down time though, so we can all get back to normal
