Two new paphs for me!
Default Two new paphs for me!

There were lots of paphs with a name tag that read (Paph. Supersuk "Eureka" AM/AOS x Paph Raisin Pie "Hsinying") x Sib at the store I went to this morning.

The interesting thing was that almost every single plant with that same tag looked different. Some of the plants with open flower showed typical of this cross, coloratum maudiae look. Then there were completely vini color one with dark foliage. I would have loved that one, but unfortunately, it looked like it was in a bad condition with lots of suspicious dark spots on the leaves and such.

I picked these two because I just loved the leaves on them. The pictures don't really capture the beautiful golden/ cream white background with green mottling. I like how clear the contrast is between the green pattern and the lighter background. Even if the flowers are not attractive to me when they open, I would love to have these two just for the leaves.
Both of them have new fan(s) going. Yay!!!
and they are small, which is nice as I have a limited space.

Those are pretty leaves! My Paph. Petula's Ghost x (callosum x maudiae) has leaves much like this, the reason for purchase. I wish all orchids had such pretty leaves!

Default So true!

For mottled leaves paphs, the more definite the contrast between the green and the light background, the better for me! I think it just looks much nicer that way. Also, I like it when the green is not too dominant as the one in the last picture. That one is my favorite paph leaves ever now!

I have one just like that except the non green part is silver instead of cream yellow. They are both great for me!

Beautiful beautiful foliage! I'm a sucker for these types of mottled leafed Paphs, and yours are absolutely gorgeous.

The good part about them is that they look wonderful both in and out of bloom.

Thank you!
Yeah, they look good even when they are not in bloom like they are right now.

aren't they nice?

I like the leaves on these two a lot and I am still on the lookout for the mottled leaves with very very dark coloration on the back side and a little bit on the top. I had one like that last year, but the bloom was just way off and thought it was virused, so I got rid of it.

Oh, well...

I thought it looked familiar. I have a plant from the same parentage. The showy leaves really make a difference when it's not in bloom. I like the tenacity of this hybrid, very vigorous. Mine is currently with child. The male I used has a really dark flower, so this should be interesting.

Have you got a venestum? I got one largely because I'd seen a photo of the leaves on Mutant's! They have an almost 3d effect in real life. Still the only paph I've got, though I think that may change next time I do an order!

PS: different chids with the same breeding can look different for basically the same reason people can look very different from their brothers and sisters. Usually we are used to seeing orchids with the same tag all looking the same because often they are clones. Paphs are generally seed grown though so genetically more diverse.

You're gonna love these guys. I bought one several years ago, that ended up being two different plants in one pot. One was a normal color, and the other a very dark vini. Both are very good growers, but tend to get a bit leggy.

I would love to have venustum, both alba and the regular colored one. The thing is I've seen some variations of flowers I didn't care for too much. so again, I'm waiting for an opportunity to see the flowers in person before buying any.
