LOL, what do you mean the flowers aren't beautiful??? I love that big old brainly pouch. That's what attracted me to them in the first place. I have the alba versions though so I don't know about the normal kind. Gotta love that pouch Mutant. How scandalous!!

the flowers arent ugly...they are different. There is a difference between ugly...Them chicken footed dangly orchid things that look like shredded meat are ugly. The bulbos that have blooms that smell like potted meat are ugly..how can you say any paph is ugly?

They are beautiful complexly shaped intricate delicate flowers and I dont know of any paphs that smell or look like meat..

Now now, I was rolling with you up until the 'bulbos smelling like potted meat' commets . I have a grandiflorum which apparently does smell like rotting meat -I have yet to see it in flower, but to me that will be the most beautiful smell known to man when it does flower. It is gorgeous too!!

I like the paph delentalii. : )
The Lynnleigh Koopowitz is a cross of it. The other that I want is paph Niveum. That being said, I bought a very dark one because, in bud, it looks like a serpant. I am pretty certain the blooms will be the type that only a blind person can love but the leaves are pretty and the dark stem and bud are striking. I wasn't too upset when I accidently broke it off just before it opened. : )

*sniggers*

I personally think it resembles a brain more, but then I'm not that well versed in the wonderful world of the scrotum. Maybe one could use that as a pickup line? "Well, you see, I have this orchid in bloom at home and I've heard some people liken it to a scrotum. Would you mind following me home and see if there's any truth in that statement?" Yup, I have a winner right there...

I totally agree on the delantii type of Paphs. I'm no fan of them and they make me think of...toilets, or, in some cases, urinals, and I really don't want a flower that makes me want to go and pee every time I look at it (me and my friend have dubbed them toilet-Paphs even). I'm so sorry if I've grossed any of you out and I hope I've not offended anyone.

Nope, not beautiful, but COOL. I really look forward to see the flower in real life - I might change my opinion to "beautiful" then. Now all I have to do is to get the darn thing to bloom...

I love delenatii!! And all the hairy Paphs. Now, if you REALLY want to see a toilet bowl looking orchid, check out the hairy toilet bowl orchid! Here's Ron's plant: Effusiella amparoana | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

It's funny how people see things. That looks like a cute little fur lined birds nest to me. Now, actually having a furry loo seat is disgusting...

As for delenatii, to me it looks like a fat pink face about to do a massive spit.

Now, what twisted mind called a certain paph 'bellatum'???? I would not call that 'belle': it looks like a tissue sample used to illustrate the cancer-causing effects of smoking.
