Culture for fumi's delight?
Hi, new to the forum.!
I just bought my first Paph, Paph. Fumi's Delight. I'm pretty excited, but can't seem to find much specific information on this plant, so I was hoping to get some advice from anyone who has/knows anything about this plant? I plan to use the same mix I use for my Phals, a fir bark mix, and add a little more moss for moisture retention. I'm hoping an open east facing window will work.. And I cannot seem to find out if this plant needs extra calcium.. Any advice is appreciated.!

Welcome, xfl! I'm pretty new w/ Paphs myself, but AFAIK both parents of Fumi's Delight (armeniacum x micranthum) are calcicolous. Here's a reference page for substrate preferences of various Paph species. Hope this helps!

Welcome to the forum.
I just bought a Fumi's Delight too, along with Dick Wagner (just seedlings from Clouds Orchids). If you are using the bark mix typically sold in stores (like shultz) I would suggest to pick the large pieces of bark out, paphs like a bit finer bark than phals.
I also have both parents of this cross and they live in straight coconut husk chips.
Good luck with your paph!

Orchideya, what kind of light to you give yours?

I have parvisepalums and multifloral paphs. They require different light conditions I think.
My multiflorals get bright "cattleya type" light with lots of morning sun (from sunrise until noon). They are around my south-east large window that spans down to the basement. They like it warm.
Parvisepalums get phalaenopsis type of light - they are in the basement along the wall opposite to that large window. They get very short period of sun very early in the morning. They like it cooler, basement stays pretty cool even when heating is on, so I put them there together with masdies.
I don't have that much experience with them but noticed that with too bright light - mottled pattern on the micranthum starts to look dull.

Welcome! OrchidWiz shows this as requiring shaded to dappled light. One parent requires low light and the other required medium light. Grow cool to intermediate.

From what I can tell parvisepalums grow fine if slowly in lower light, but check out these stunning armeniacum grown in fairly bright light: Paphiopedilum armeniacum (group photo) - Slippertalk Orchid Forum. The in-situ pics I've seen suggest this species often grows on exposed cliffs or steep rocky hills among other low vegetation, so a tolerance/preference for bright light would make sense. As I'm repotting and moving plants this spring I'm going to slowly introduce my parvi paphs to much brighter light outdoors. I'll try to report back on how they do with it.

Hmm. That makes sense, I'm hoping medium-bright diffused light will work. Those growths are enormous, and the area I've chosen does get brighter light in the morning. I've read that both parents appreciate humidity as well, so I've put it by my Phals on humidity trays, here's hoping all goes good!
