Cool growing Paphiopedilum species?
Well, if you've seen my Bulbophyllium thread, you probably know that I'm best equipped to grow cool growing orchids, so after doing alot of research, and reading a great deal of conflicting info online, I'd like to know if anyone has any knowledge about cool growing species of Paphs, or ones that can tolerate winter temps of 54F nights and 73F days at least.
Thanks.

Look at some of Boleros threads in the Paph forum, he grows his stuff really cool. Down to near freezing.
I grow paphs down to 50-55F at night with no problems at all. Mostly strap leaf types(roth & philippenese crosses) and some delenatii.

You might also use the search feature on Andy's Orchids, setting the parameters to paph and cool growing to see what pops up. Bear in mind that (of course) he doesn't have every orchid imaginable, but you can learn what would work based upon the selection he has.
Otherwise, I'm not really sure that I know of any. The one's I know of tend to like standard household temps with little fluctuation. But then again, I'm just starting with Paph's so I have limited knowledge.

Oh...and here I thought thay the only ones that could grow cool were venustum, farrianum, bellatum, and insigne.
So...roth hybrids will grow cool?...do you think that roth itself could grow cool? *is getting excited at the possibilities*

My blooming size roth has some nice fat buds right now, and the little ones are doing great with night time temps at 50-55. Last year we lost power several times with all the snow and the temps went down to 40F or so with no ill effects.
