My lights do look purple. I think it's because of the red and blue light that they give off, red and blue makes purple.

I read this recently: "Paph. delenatii grows well in bright light, however to get more in depth flower color, grow in the shade." What does it mean by 'in depth flower color'? Sshould I raise my lights a little? I also heard something about cooler temperatures...
How do I get my delenatii to have the best flower?

I will live it be until it bloom to avoid blasting the buds. Some say that putting the flower in a light shade prolongs the flower. So I think that's totally optional and up to you.

If you go to your thread titled "Paph delenatii questions" that you started on 12/19/11 you'll see photos of my delenatii that I had taken at that time.
The longer spike is now about about 10" long and the spike that was just starting (and hard to make out in that photo) is about 5". Both have two buds and the largest buds are only about one-third the size they will be when they open.
Hope this gives you some idea of how long they take to develope.
It takes patience to be an orchid grower.

Thanks Paphluvr this was helpful.
I haven't been on here for a little while because of Internet problems...
Does anyone have suggestions on how to get the best flowers from orchids? Increase/decrease light, increase/decrease temperature, or increase/decrease fertilizer ect...

One more question... What does a new paph growth look like before it really starts growing?
I have a 3 growth Paph. Magical Venus and on it's newest growth (which is in bloom) has what looks like 2 smaller leaves below the bigger leaves and they are about a half inch wide by a half inch long.
Will these be the next flowering growths?
Also when do paphs start growing multiple growth at once to have multiple flowers? After 3 growths, after 4, 5, 6, ect.

New growth will poke out from inside the first set of leaves. Initially it looks like two small leaves. As it grows more leaves grow out of the center and are larger. If you have grown oncidiums the new growths are a bit like that.
