Green Complex paphs finally!!!
Default Green Complex paphs finally!!!

I've wanted to have green/white complex type paph for a long time. I just never found a store that carried them. then I came across two online stores. One store sold them out, the other one charged several hundreds to thousands of dollars per division. As beautiful as they were, I wasn't willing to spend that much on a plant.

Then today, I made my regular visit to flower market. I got lucky to find a store with 8 green/white complex paphs. They all had name tags and were not thousands of dollars.
The thing was that they were all in bud or slightly open, so I couldn't tell what they would look like when fully open. After some hesitation, I brought home with me three of them.

One of the three just started to open up and it's beautiful apple green with hint of white around the dorsal edge. I'm so excited!!!!!!

I know I am going back to that store often to find some more of this kind that I will love. hopefully in full bloom so I know what to expect.
but for now, I'm all smile with these three. I can't wait to see them in full bloom next week or so. I will post pictures of them again then with names.

I'm going to have a drink to celebrate. Cheers!

By the way, these new guys took the space where my Thai orchid used to sit. I love it and all, but it has been in bloom for nearly four months and doesn't really fit winter atmosphere, so I decided to put these new green guys instead and use all the dendrobium flowers as garnish on my food.

Thank you, all. The weather has gotten quite cold here, so they are very slowing opening up.
I will post them when fully open. Can't wait!!!!!

It is a very exciting time of the year with phals and dens spiking (I love to see them grow and once the tiny buds form, I like to count how many there will be!) and oncidiums and paphs blooming.
This is an orchid board, but one of the joy is seeing Amaryllis buds opening up into huge colorful bloom!

I agree. Amaryllis are one of my passions. I have a couple that are around twenty years old. Through the years, they have become summer bloomers, so I have a big, colorful burst outside each year.

Wow~ twenty years! You must have lots of them then.
One of my aunts used to grow old variety(smaller flower with red and white). She started out with one, then over the course of ten years she ended up with more than ten! I remember how nice the blooms were every summer!

Default Finally opened up!

So it's been about a week since these guys were introduced into my apartment and now they are all open.

I took some pictures today. Interesting thing is that one flower won't open up fully. It's the one on the left in the back in the group shot. It came like that when I got it and haven't changed. I hope the future bloom will be normal. oh, well...

The two taller ones in the back are Paph. Mountain Meadow 'Absinthe'×Paph. Stone Lovely '200'
The shorter one in the front is Paph. In-Charm Greenery '100' × Paph. Stone Lovely 'Partner'

The second picture shows the comparison of the same cross. Then the third one is of one of the two (Paph. Mountain Meadow 'Absinthe'×Paph. Stone Lovely '200').

The last picture last picture is of Paph. In-Charm Greenery '100' × Paph. Stone Lovely 'Partner'. They all look pretty much the same in the group shot but this one actually is yellowish green while the other two are light green. The individual shots show true color of them.

Overall, I'm happy.

Enjoy!

Default Oh, by the way...

If any one of visitors grow complex type paphs, please let me know how to care for this.
My main concern is that I've heard that they need cooler temperature to flower. Then again, I've also heard that they can grow alongside the mottled leafed ones.
Maybe it's just the ones that have Winston Churchill in their parentage that need "chilling" to be able to flower?

Please help! I love these new guys and I would love to keep them alive and blooming for years to come!

Thanks in advance.
