I have not found that the complex slipper needs a cool down to flower, (maybe some)
I did get buds in mid july, Sure they blew off mind you but that pretty normal for slippers during that time of year.
These do like the higher end of lighting as in a multifloral paphs.
The bulldogs leaves can be large and very chunky so make some room as they tend to be real fast growers.
You're such a good shopper

Thank you, I do shop around quite a bit. hahaha
I too find these types hard to find at stores around here.
Although, more and more of them are coming out now. I guess winter is their season in the flower market.
I found a great online vendor who specializes the complex types of all colors, but the thing is they charge thousands of dollars per division, so their great plants are out of my reach.
Being a hybrid, I guess they are all temperature tolerant to some degree. I just couldn't find much information regarding their parents culture and such. well, well,,,
I appreciate your input and the fact that you were able to bloom these without cooling is a great news to me!
Regarding summer flowering, I did read about at least one green complex hybrid that flowers twice a year, one of which being a summer time. I can't recall the name but I did have it saved on my computer.
It is first time for me to have complex types, so I will have to find out how to grow and flower them on my own I guess. I heard that the green leafed ones or at least the multi-flowering ones requite high light.
This might be a challenge for me. well, well...
How much light do you give to yours?
Also, these guys already have leaves that are quite long for my space. hmmmm....I like the fast growing part. I love things that grow fast!
