Default Paph sukhakulii

After a 5 year wait, I finally got a bloom! I bought this one in 1990 and it did great until 2002 but my lack of repotting lead to root. I just about lost the plant except for a tiny growth. Took that growth 5 years to bulk up enough for blooms.

It appears to have been worth the wait. You have a keeper here Todd.

Nice save, Todd. Do new growth on paphs really take 5 years to fully mature and bloom, I've heard they are slow growers. I have a new growth on my delenatii, that's healthy, any thoughts on that growtrh rate?

Great save there, its beautiful!

Erin, New growths usually do not take 5 years to mature on an adult plant. These mottled leaf plants seem to be faster growers and Todd's plant had a set back. Some paphs might become multigrowth before blooming too

My sukhakulii was litterally set back to being a like a seedling. The little growth took 3 years to produce a new growth. The new growth took nearly 2 years to mature enough to bloom. Most of my other paphs take about a year to mature new growths and flower. My sukhakulii already has a new growth with 2 leaves so I expect if I do everything right, that growth will flower this time next year and I should be back to yearly blooming.

How often should these be re-potted? I assume you've got your calender marked?

Sheesh, can't afford to set em back too many times.
