Default First rebloom of vinicolor Paph

In December 2009 I bought a vinicolor NoID Paph which turned out to have two plants in the pot.

This is the smaller plant, but had a far superior flower shape IMHO when they were both bought in flower and I'm pleased with it again this time. The other is also spiking so we'll see if it's better this time.

While it's a dark flower I was not happy with the pictures against the pale background so tried some with a dark background as well. It actually shows up better than expected.

I love the veining on the flag, and the white rim around it's edge.

Thanks Cody, got my hubby to thank for these photos Since we got a new camera he enjoys taking some of my orchids for me. Today's have all been from him I just 'supervised' with 'advise' on backdrop and exposure

Beautiful vini! I agree, the darker background looks better. It makes that pretty white rim stand out.

Beautiful paph! I bet it will look nice pictured on the green background of some tropical foliage plant. If you focus strictly on paph bloom so back foliage will come out slightly blurry -the natural color of paph might stand out really nicely. I use this trick to take photos of dark colored blooms.

Thanks everyone

Interesting idea about the green foliage background, I think you are right, might have to think about what plant could provide that

You need Ramon's awesome green wall! Maybe Steve could be talked into repainting a wall for the orchids?

I use old ponytail palm. It looks just like a green fountain on the background and her simple narrow leaves don't steal attention from the main plant being photographed :

I think ferns would look very nice too.
