Default Paph Grecian Maid

I have to do some research on this one, I got it as a gift with a hand written tag from a friend who can't remember where he bought it. All the Grecian Maids that I have seen in the past have been what could be considered flames of vinicolored. The cross is Paph Hellas (a green complex paph with a white halo) X Paph Maudiae (a primary maudiae type cross). I have a hard time wrapping my head around this coming out of the above parents. Any thoughts?

Here is a link to what I think of as a typical type plant from this cross;

Thanks, but don't get me wrong, I really like it, I just I don't understand how it came out the way it did, thus the research, I don't like mysteries to go unsolved.

Gorgeous flower. Reminds me of one of my NoID's.

I can see what you mean about the differences. I don't know if different individuals in the parents could lead to this much difference or not. It would be interesting to know.

I'd vote on a mislabel.

I'm still always learning about orchids, but I know when it comes to genetics dormant genes can make a huge difference. If the parents had a bunch of dormant color genes you could get some crazy colors.
