Are you confused more yet? There are a lot of mixes out there in use for paphs. Ive begun using (for terrestrials too) a fine bark/charcoal/perlite mix ammended with some high quality potting mix. Unstead of plain Pro-mix, it has peat, forest humus, earthworm castings, bat guano, microbes...and more. Many paphs will benefit from the addition of a bit of dolomitic lime, crushed oyster shell or the like as a top dressing.

There are more and more folks going completely semi-hyrdo. One guy in our society is using 50/50 rockwoll and hydroton.

Over the past several months, Orchids magazine ran articles about paphs in the wild, and natural hybrids. They had several good photographs showing paphs growing at the base of trees. Roots grew across the base of the tree itself and into (across) the forest floor
