Do you mean phal (Phalaenopsis) or paph (Paphiopedilum)? Just want to be sure before making any recommendations (I enjoy growing phals).

If you are talking about Paphiopedilums - The best book in my opinion is Tropical Slipper Orchids: Paphiopedilum & Phragmipedium Species & Hybrids by Harold Koopowitz.

For Phalaenopsis I would suggest; Moth Orchids: The Complete Guide to Phalaenopsis by Steven Frowine

I will order, Tropical Slipper Orchids today. I am just fascinated by this type of orchid.
