Paph. Temptation
Temptation is a cross between Paph. kolopakingii and Paph. philippinense. I have too many philippinense. Not enough kolopakingii. P. kolopakingii is the giant of the genus - some plants at maturity can have 4 foot leafspans. Think about that - a specimen sized plant with 8 or 10 growths, each with a 4' leafspan. Wowzers!
(did I just type that? lol)
So, the other cool thing about kolopakingii is it is a many flowered multifloral Paph. Seven or more blooms is the usual. It is used in breeding not to impart its leaf size, but it's color and flower count.
I bought this plant as Paph. Bel Royal (kolopakingii x rothschildianum) as I prefer roths to phils (who doesn't, really?) but the petal stance and the many flowers won me over to Temptation. The grower, sent me two new Bel Royals for my trouble.
Okay, here's the photos!
Enjoy!
