Default sequential bloomers

Hi~~~

Well my other paph has a nice full bud. Looks somewhat pinkish. It is a NOID.

Can someone educate me about sequential bloomers? I gather from the name that they bloom more frequently. I assume it is from a different spike, but the same fan?

What are some names of the Paph sequential bloomers that you guys like?

Thanks~~
Pedi

A sequential Paph, sometimes called complex paphs, is one that puts out a single spike and flowers one after the next extending out. Something like a Phrag. Paphs can be also be multifloral meaning they put out 2 or 3 flowers together on one spike Paphiopedilum Hybrids Multifloral.

I'm sure others more knowledgeable than I will chime in here to help out.

Sequential bloomers normally put out one flower at a time from the same spike. Paph. Pinocchio is an excellent example of a sequential bloomer. It occasionally will hold two flowers at a time but usually not for more than a couple of days and then the older flower will drop. The same spike can continue to bloom sometimes for a year or more. I have a Pinocchio that has been in continuous bloom for a little over a year. It has put out 5 spikes in that time period and they often bloom together. Anything with glaucophyllum/moquetteanum (they are the same species), primulinum, or liemianum in it is likely to be a sequential bloomer. I'm sure there are others as well.

Multi-florals on the other hand have multiple flowers on a single spike that all open sequentially but stay open until the entire spike has bloomed out.
