A Paph and a Phrag
Some new flowers opening this week.... The Phrag has two more buds... The dorsal on the Paph isn't the best but I still like the color and overall shape.
Just in.... I've been informed that the Paph has been renamed Star Faire and the Phrag Prince Albert... no need for any jokes here!

Gorgeous. Love both of those.
Is Phrag Dick Clements the same as Phrag Memoria Dick Clements. That's one of the two I have and I know I read somewhere that it's commonly used in other crosses (including Phrag Jason Fischer). I can easily see from the features that it could be related to mine.

Nice pics, are these staked? I'm trying to decide to stake or not and when, I have been reading different posts, what do you do?

Carol,
I stake my Memorial Dick Clements (very similar to the phrag Doc has shown). However the stake is currently about half the height of the spike because it's kept growing as new flowers develop on the sequential spike. It's holding up quite well but starting to bend gracefully over. I'm planting to put a longer stake in soon but still allow a graceful curve at the top.

Carol, it depends on the strength of the flower spike. Many of the bull dogs will have substantial spikes and really don't need support while some droop over or are every tall and require some kind of support. I've always read that if you are going to stake the spike the anchor should be placed just below the ovary and another somewhere lower if it is a tall spike. This will help "show" the flower better.
