Paph roots - how should they look? Female
Default Paph roots - how should they look?

I'm new to paphs, and the roots don't look like the roots on my other types of orchids. Would someone please show pictures of what healthy paph roots should look like? It would also help to see what unhealthy paph roots look like, if someone has pictures. Thanks.

I'm not sure I have pictures, but Paph roots are generally brown and hairy. They don't look anything like Phal roots and I was worried when I first saw them, but brown and hairy is normal.

Found this pic. This paph had root problems at the time, but the fatter looking roots on the left were healthy ones.

Thanks, Rosie. I thought there was a problem with my paphs' roots, but they look like the plumper roots in your picture.

Yep brown and hairy is what you want. When they are actively growing they will have bright white tips.

Yes, the plump ones in my picture are good so sounds like yours are good.

This one has since grown more roots and like Terri said they had white tips while actively growing.
