Default Paph. helenae (two clones)

These two were sold as Paph.helenae var.delicatulum... obviously European nurseries have some issues when IDing some plants... Note: my other Paph helenae, bought also as as var delicatulum, was also not the mentioned variety!

from both clones I like the right one the most...nicer shape, wider Dorsal, and better color...

Very nice I wish someone in the US was selling these, I love miniatures and slippers.... helenae fits the bill

I worked at Antec over the summer, wish they were still in business...

Thanks Tim, thanks for teh comment!

The problem in the USA is that Paph. helenae still has the "Illegal" status. However, I think that some growers has now some "legal" plants... you would need to contact the paph nurseries around..

Ramon, what is the difference between var delicatum and the regular helenae?

I was finally able to acquire a helenae last spring. I've seen them around but only one supplier was actually selling them.

Really nice.

I don't know what the var delicatum looks like so can't comment on the variety, but I take it from your comment that it's not like this.

Anyway yours are gorgeous.

Here you can see pictures of Paphiopedilum helenae forma delicatum
European Orchids (Rare Paph.) - Âñå î êîìíàòíûõ ðàñòåíèÿõ íà flowersweb.info

this variety has been described, if I recall it correctly, by Olaf Gruss (right now not 100% sure about Olaf being the author of the description, I must admit)

Oh that is pretty! I can see why you want one. It's much pinker than the regular helenae.
