everyone,

I received 2 paphs today. One is a paph. charlesworthii (pictured below) and the other is a paph delanatii.

In the first pic is the entire plant, the second and third pics are of what appears to be a bud, and the fourth pic is of the medium.

My plans are to repot in seedling bark mix (it was soaked overnight in water and superthrive). Will it hurt the charlesworthii to repot while in bud? Also, the medium it is in appears to be a little bigger than the seedling bark mix. Will it hurt to plant them both in seedling bark mix? I have a paph Luther Pass with 7 divisions on it that is doing well in seedling bark mix.

Kim mentioned that he has repotted his paphs without fear of setback close to their blooming season. I'm just wondoring about repotting one while in spike.

Can someone please give me their worth on this? Thanks for any info!

Guys I'm having trouble posting pics of these, I keep getting a message that says 'no security token'. I will try to post these once this issue is resolved...sorry

Eddie

You can always repot a paph, and I always repot any new plant. That said, if the plant gets inconsistent water while it's in bud, it is more likely to blast the bud or to have an inferior flower. Soaking the new mix well prior to repotting helps, as does frequent watering and constant monitoring for the first month or so. Also, take extra care not to damage living roots while repotting.
Of course, you can wait to repot until after blooming. The risk there is that you really don't know the condition of the roots or the medium. Given the tradeoff between nice blooms now and a healthy plant long-term, I repot.
