Default fairrieanum album x vini hybrid

this is a fairrieanum alba x with a vini hybrid and seems smallish to me but its moving along quite nicely. Will have green and white stripes looks like too...has a nice little new fan ..maybe the next bloom will be more bigger? ...

not going to be but about a 2" total bloom size about a 3/4 inch dorsal

a mini vini fairrieanum

That bud looks like it still may be many weeks away from opening and should get much larger before it does, and will probably be quite dark in overall color.

I hope so. From all the ones I'm seeing they all seem to be normal sized paph blooms. I cant find any pics with this X..
Will be a mystery to what its going to look like in many weeks

Default it is getting MUCH better :)

ah you were right again the bud is getting BIG and the labellum I think its called has its own little pouch showing off...have new growth also too boot

the petals are going to be striped green/vini combo with the white striped vini color dorsal

and look how nice and shiny the leaves are ..the plant had little shine and very soft leaves when I brought it home...RJS paph mix is good stuff!! now has shine and strong leaves and is proud

Really cool.

My Maudiae was quite quick from first sight of bud to bloom opening... although once the flower started opening it seemed to take about a week to fully open. On the other hand my Buldog has been 2 months since I first noticed a bud growing and it's still smaller than the one in your last pic.

Looks like yours is going a bit faster than that, can't wait to see the pics.

heh the pouch is a 2nd bud doh!!! wow if it wasnt for these few little buds I have..I would be...unhappy

and the bulldog I have its wide open now too need more bulldogs..

Really starting to lean towards the paphs and a few phrags now...they are just so much more immediately fulfilling for me and Im getting old and I need much more immediate fulfilling in my life before I catch up

Cool. I didn't say above but I found that one of the two spikes on my Buldog surprisingly produced two buds right next to each other before they started raising up on the spike, the other is only producing the one bud.

This was a complete surprise has the orchid only had one lone flower when I bought it.

its so cool when the plants do GOOD things that are unusual and another reason why i just love the things...I have a bulldog churchhill looks like he might have a few blooms on it but might be just more leaves as it has 5 growths and never bloomed...more leaves are okey too better than a pot full of rot!! and you know Ive only lost 1 single paph out of about 20 I have. I think that paph was sick when i bought it cus 2 weeks later it was gone..Almost all my big stuff is gone now still makes me a little sad but i understand what went wrong and thats the main thing

Remember to test the thickness of any 'new leaf' you think might actually be the start of a bloom. If it's flat then it's just a leaf... if it feels fat then it's likely a bloom.

I wasn't sure until I felt some fat ones, then suddenly knew what people meant about them being fat.

it deserves a better pic .I been feeling around all the fans and am finding tis true about the fat vs flat leaves ...I was told before about that but at that time ever thing was a bloom

didnt realize until I looked back here that one parent is paph aningha which is a very dark burgundy with evergreen striping and the other is the fairrieanum album ...could be very interesting bloom as it is already for me ..wont have the fairrieanum ruffle on the top from what I can see but thats okey tooo
