Thanks Gloria, the plant and flower and stem are only about 20cm tall, I think this might be a possible vivarium candidate!

Indeed!

Smile Paph Dollgoldi

I just want to say hello and to get an update regarding the Paph Dollgoldi seedling that you got at the auction! You can tell that my ultimate dream in orchid growing is to have a Paph Dollgoldi in bloom. I have had this seedling for three years now and it seems that it is not growing. Thought it is a known fact that Paph rothschildianum is a slooow grower, I just want to know whether yours is doing the same. I have a Paph Gloria Naugle seedling that I got at the same time and it is relatively bigger.
Regards,
Stephen

Smile Watches vs Orchids

First of all, I do not feel bad now to have looked at a thread that has already been left cooold! Secondly, if a man has one orchid, he knows how lovely it is; if a man has two orchids, he knows how lovely they are! Throw away the watches! Get more orchids!
Where in Canada are you? I miss the maple leaves.......
Regards,
Stephen

Your post reminded me that I DO have Dollgoldi in the collection. When it arrived a couple of years ago, it was little more than 2 inches tall. There are now seven lush green, healthy leaves but no sign of an inflorescence. Thank goodness I didn't choose this for instant gratification ... I'm wondering if it will ever bloom!

Smile Paph rothschildianum hybrids

Seven lush green leaves! If circumstances permit, we should let each other know how our Paph Dollgoldi is doing. The picture shows Paph Dollgoldi and Paph Gloria Naugle side by side to demonstrate the difference in their size. I have tried other Paph rothschildianum hybrid seedlings which I started from compots. I got three different ones in 2005. They each yielded average 35 seedlings in 2006. As of now, I only have three each left (mortality rate is about 90%) and they are only about 1 1/2" to 2" tall. I found them very difficult to take care.

Our collection has only a handful of paphs ... will try to send photos of what's growing (well and not so well) a bit later today.
