Default I might have a Maudiae bud... what do you think?

Hi guys, I am so excited because I've never managed to re-bloom a paph, but now one of my two Maudiae paphs might be starting a bud on what is actually still quite a small fan (but then the fan in flower when I bought it was also quite small).

I'm so excited, but also nervous that it might not be that at all.

I remember reading that it is a bud it will feel fat... which it does. I've often felt the emerging leaves hoping and they always felt flat... but not this one.

Also it seems to have had a small leaf next to it/just before it which did not grow to full size. Not sure if that is normal.

So what do you think from my pic

I've just noticed from the pic that it might also look furry which seems like a good sign to me

Hi Rosie, It certainly looks like a bud. They tend to look more like a mitten shape, not sharp like a leaf.

Thanks Bill & Kim,

I've had a few other people say to me they think it may be are not certain. The concensus seems to be towards probably a bud... I just can't wait

The furry part was what had me leaning towards bud on my Paph that recently started a bud. First Paph rebloom for me too! Congrats Rosie!

I'm so excited.

I have a bulldog type Paph which has grown and grown and shown no sign of flowering, I was only commenting on another thread recently that my Paphs seemed to grow and grow and not flower. Now this Maudiae is flowering of a relatively small fan.

Oh yeah... and I think it is also starting another new fan next to this one. It's only a nubbin just now, but I can't think what else it might be down at the base of the existing fan.

(I can't write "nubbin" without thinking of Dorothy )

Thanks RJSquirrel,

Actually I think my Bulldog is also proving me wrong about not being able to get it to bloom... there are two fans which just may have the start of buds. I noticed it a couple of days after this one.

On the Bulldog they still look like they may be leaves, except that they are bigger than the size where they would normally have opened in to the two halves and they haven't yet. While they are both thin at the top there is a definate swelling on both down within the fan.
