Default Fujiwara dropped bud

ahh I just got this plant and noticed what I thought was a black leaf on the side and it was a rotted brown fan sprout.Got to looking at the plant and noticed the spike stem wasnt green like the bud and tugged on it and it was rotted and hollow :*( I sad now I was doing good..I think I got water inside the bud hollow and did this but I didn't rot the fan off....Is water in the spike hole cause this?

Ill have to buy another one I guess
