Default Paphiopedilum hangianum

This is a first bloomer. The flower has some deformities which I hope are correct for the next blooming (there is a second flower coming on this spike and a second spike growing too). Not the best shape as it is right now, the petals could also be wider, and the color pattern is not very symetric... however, I think the color of this plant is reason enough to keep it and wait for improvements in the coming years

Very nice! I agree about the color - it's fantastic! Can't wait to see the other blooms on this plant!

You're right, the color is fantastic! Maybe the next bud or second spike will give you some better formed blooms. Does this paph species have a lot of color variation? I thought that these were supposed to be more yellow or cream colored, with much rounder/wider petals.

Camille, normally the species is indeed more yellow. But there are some "so-called" Red clones...

on the other hands, I must agree I have some doubts about the real ID of this plant.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this isn't a pure hangianum. This is a hybrid with a multi or sequential flowerer.

Hi Roy, as I replied to Camille, I also had my doubts about the ID of this plant. We are currently having a discussion about possible parents in a nother forum.

What would be your guess for this plant?
