Default Paphiopedilum unbeknownst (please identify)

Hi everyone,

I bought this Paph. from a reputable orchid grower. It was sold to me as Paphiopedilum Alex's Spots. Not sure about that though,

David.

It's Paph Alex's Spots. Hybrids often show a wide range of variation, so two plants of the same cross are not likely to look exactly alike. Since Paphs can't be cloned, each individual plant is guaranteed to be unique.

I would also have my doubts about Alex's Spots. I really so no hint of lowii and I think only parishii or philipinense could account for petals like that. Even the most reputable vendors can have mislabeled plants. I'd show them the picture and ask if they think the identification is correct.

I agree with PaphMadMan here. It definitely has philippinense in it, probably parishii or dianthum, and possibly kolopakingii. But I see no lowii whatsoever.
