I think there's some delusion when it comes to orchid colors. "Blue" vandas are purple, for example.

It happens in the animal world too- pure grey guinea pigs are termed "lilac"

Absolutely gorgeous orchid, too, as I should have said - it looks a bit like blackcurrant to me in colour, like a ribena milkshake
