Hi thought I'd update you all on what I found out about this plant. I sent it to my local society show last weekend. One of the AOS judges there who is a Paph. expert confirmed without a doubt that this plant is indeed Paph. Ho Chi Minh, and that it had been mislabeled. He changed my judging tag for me (I was out of town), and it was actually nominated for an AOS award. I was told on Sunday that if one of the petals had opened flat instead of curled it would have been awarded. The flower that got judged was the second bud. It opened up against the first flower hence the curled petal on one side. Unfortunately the first flower was on it's way out by show time so I cut it off. Anyway, maybe next year the first flower will last until show time.
Not to take away from Terri's post of her beauty, but a question, please. I recently posted a pic of my delenatii
Now, a second bud has opened... the dorsal is damaged but otherwise the flower is good... I guess. Anyway, my question is this: Is this species a sequential or did I just get lucky?????? Better lucky than good!!!!!
Paph delenatii will produce two flowers to a stem (very rarely 3) if it is a good, healthy cultivar. You were probably a little lucky, and also a good grower!
