My lowii has about a 14" leaf span with a fairly upright growth habit and the spike stands at least that tall with three flowers on it.

Good point! I totally agree with this. You are going to have trouble with a tiny mount like that.
You might have to remount when it gets bigger or something...and that will cause root damage because they should cling to the bark eventually
