Paphiopedilum Pinocchio
I do recommend this plant for people new to paphs. Paph Pinocchio is glaucophyllum x primulinum. These are multifloral plants that bloom sequentially, meaning that they put one bloom out at a time (sometimes more). This means that the spike will stay in bloom for a long time, as each new bloom replaces the old one. I've read that mature plants can be permanently in bloom!
I recently repotted it and a growth fell off, so I gave it away to someone as a their first paph!

Neat one, Fren. I got one this past summer that is trying to bloom. The flower opens beautifully, but then drops after about a week, like a phrag does. Is this a problem with this cross sometimes, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

The one I was given in bloom in December only lasted a couple of weeks but I put that down to transition shock - it wasn't very well protected by the florist - and it also dropped its bud - how many buds can one expect on a stem? I haven't cut it back as it looks like it may make more.

The blooms do drop off like a phrag, though some might wrinkle a little first. But I would expect blooms to last more than a week. Did you buy the plant in bloom from a greenhouse and moved it indoors? Perhaps it was due to a change in growing conditions.

I think the number of blooms expected depends on the size of the plant. glacophyllum can have 20 or more blooms per stem. I have seen photos of mature plants with tall spikes! My first blooming on this plant was much shorter though.

I've had this put out as many as 24 flowers before the spike finally expires. By then, there is usually a new spike on the way. Very user-friendly plant!

What do you feed it with? I am treating mine with kid gloves as unlike my mottled leaved ones this seems a bit tender - Does it need to be cooler than the other hybrids I have? Also can anyone recommend a good book on Paphs, please? Preferably one that's available in UK
