Default upkeep on Paph. Pinocchio

My Paph. Pinocchio has been blooming steadily since I purchased it in Jan 2008. It even grew a second stalk so I had 2 blossoms side by side for most of the last year. Now the blooms are much smaller. Since these stalks are almost 30 inches tall, I was planning on cutting them off and repotting, which it needs desperately.
The plant has several small spikes so I am encouraged it will bloom again.
Any comments?
Nick

Go for it Nick. I repotted mine last December in spike. It was in tough shape (inherited from a family member), so I cut the spike off when I repotted to allow it to recover. It's currently blooming on one spike and sending up another. I think some of these sequential bloomers can get a little tatty looking if left to bloom too long. My Paph. liemianum blooms similarly to Pinocchio, and it got to the point where it started looking ugly so I cut the spike. It's now also sending up a new one.

Terri,
my thoughts exactly. Plan to do today unless someone gives me a good reason not to before it happens

I agree, Nick, go for it. I know it can be tough to cut a spike, but some of these guys can can get really gangly and unmanageable.
