Mystery Paph.
Default Mystery Paph.

I was given a large, vigorously growing Paph. (my first) with the following name tag -
Paph. Sparkling Wine "Burnish" x Paph. Kimber Szabo "Cord" BM/CSA
I have googled both names without success and a Forum search also came up with zilch.
Does anyone know this one.

Baz

Hi there. Spakling Wine = (Paphiopedilum Sandra Mary x Paphiopedilum Gigi), and Kimber Szabo = (Paphiopedilum Great Pacific x Paphiopedilum Via Recompensa). I'm assuming it's a complex "bulldog" type of Paph. Your cross is unregsitered to date. There were no pictures of either parent on OrchidWiz so I'm not sure what to tell you to expect.

Thank you Terri and a belated "happy birthday".
My knowledge of Paphs is hovering around the zero mark but I assume that when you use the term "complex" you mean the plant has multiple leads.
The plant has around a half dozen leads and looks a lot like a clivea lily rather than having the Phal. type of growth I have always associated with Paphs.
Your term "bulldog" whizzed way over my head.

Bulldog is kind of a nick name for these types of Paphs. By complex I mean they have many many different species in their background, unlike primary hybrids which have only two. Bulldogs tend to be "chunky" looking. No long twirlies or skinny anything. Here's a pic of my one and only bulldog. It's Paph. Don Egger.

Thanks Terri. I visited the donor of my Paph and his plant (he cut his original plant in half) has a partly opened flower very similar in form to yours ie short thick stem and a full flower rather than the spidery type.
Both plants have several leads, is this normal?
