Hi Rosie, That is a striking flower, great choice for first Paph. The vase is nice too, but looking at it, I can't figure out how it's staying upright. It would last about 10 minutes in my growing area.. I'm such a klutz. Good Luck.

All my orchid pots (the outer ones, not the inner ones) are that shape. They're actually more stable than they look and are designed for Orchids. I've pushed against them a few times when moving things arround and they've not fallen over yet. :crossfing

The idea is that the inner pot is the standard shape (about as deep as it is wide) but does not sit in the bottom of the outer pot but higher up, alowing the medium to drain well as there is no chance of it standing in water.

A couple of the ones I use have a lip part way up, the inner pot sits on that lip. Another I have has a buldge in the middle/bottom which the inner pot sits on, and the water falls to the bottom arround the edge again away from the inner pot. This one has a lip at the top and the inner pot rests on that, so that again there is a gap at the bottom.

Crawlies in the Bark!

I've found two crawly centipedes/millipedes in the bark of this Paph :yikes:

Please go to my other thread in Pest & Diseases, if you have any idea what I should do.
