My boyfriend is the most fantastic man in the world. He went to a flower shop that was letting a paph die cause it was no longer blooming and bought it for me. This is the 1st paph i have ever owned and unfortunately since its no longer blooming i have no idea what she is. I was hoping for some help with her, maybe some general paph guidelines. She had a new shoot budding when he brought her home that has been steadily growing. Each leaf that grows is bigger than the previous one, i think that is a good thing right? And the colour of green is that same as the 1st shoot but the oldest leaves on her 1st shoot have started to go yellow and fall off. I have lost 2 leaves in the past 4-5 months, is that normal? The new growth is still going strong tho. I inspected the base to look for parasites and repotted her to inspect the roots which look good. If it helps with her id her roots are fuzzy and so was her flower stock and her leaves are slender. I have her pot suspended over another pot that has a bit of water in the bottom to keep up the humidity but she is not standing in it. I use full spectrum bulbs and incandescent bulbs to supplement the lighting cause shes facing north (north facing apt). I feed her a diluted 20-10-20 fertilizer

The info doesn't help id the plant. Paphs have fuzzy roots and flower spikes. It does sound like the plant is doing well. Keep doing what you're doing, but don't give it too much fertilizer and make sure you flush the pot periodically with plenty of water. Paphs can be quite sensitive to the build-up of fertilizer salts. The older leaves on the growths that have bloomed will eventually die off, so you shouldn't worry too much about that. Good luck!

I agree with Ron, it sounds like your plant is doing fine and building momentum.

over watering and rotting it is usually the main thing done wrong but also don't let it dry out. Moist but well drained if you know what i mean.hehe! I'd go easy on the fertiliser, only using it 1/3 the strength.
