Love it or Hate it...
The jury is still out on this latest addition of mine... I am not sure if I really love it, but it was so different to what I normally see that I had to have it.
I think this is one of those plants that is hard to be ambivalent about... so, do you love it? or do you hate it?
Paph. (concolor 'Tupfel' x Jac Flash 'F.G.')

How can anyone hate any orchid?
I don't know that I love it but I'd rather vote love than hate

Sorry, but this plant looks like it's about to croak! I really am sorry for the negative review (not really). I usually like all Paphs, but this one is a loser to me, sorry. I am (so far) the only "hate it" voter. I personally like the colors. I just hate the display of the petals. They look, like, "done for the count." Sorry, but that's my vote. Why am I apologizing?

I don' know.... But I can totally see what you mean. I am not sure myself about this flower. I think the second flower that is just opening is going to have a nicer 'shape' - so maybe you will like that one? Not sure if this one is just 'past it' or if there were cultural changes that led to it looking this way.
But I'll post an update photo when the second bloom on the spike is open...

I must admit that I haven't met an orchid I don't like...but given the two choices, love it or hate it, I lean towards the "hate it" vote...mainly because it's not something I'd like to have in my collection...it looks kind of viral to me.
No offense is meant to you Shakkai for growing this plant, in fact I have seedlings bloom the first time for me from time to time and feel the same way about them. I usually find someone who feels differently, so I can provide them with a loving home.

That's right Ross, you have no reason to apologize for your opinion....it's yours and only you can be held accountable for it....WOW did I say all of that!!! Anyway, I don't know that it is a love/hate situatiion, rather a question of artistic beauty. Sure there are chids we may enjoy more than others but I think you have to appreciate the flower for its natural beauty and form and this is unusual and very artful....Dorothy is that word in your Funk & Wagnal and did I spell it correctly....

You all know, there are no apologies necessary - and no offense will be taken! I had a feeling that people might have strong feelings one way or the other about this flower. It was so different, that it might not be to everyone's taste. That's fine - and its one of the reasons that I LOVE all orchids so much: there is something for everyone, but not everything is for everyone. Kinda like life in general!
Maybe Doc is right, and what I mean is really 'Do you think it is ugly or beautiful?' Kinda like modern art - abtract expressionism in flowers!!
