Default ? on Paph. Raisin Pie 'Hsinying' x SIB (Paph. Sukersuk 'Eureka' flowering

Not too long ago, I acquired a new Paph and asked some questions regarding how to care for it, as my only other Paph seemed to really dislike me. I didn't want to risk the newbie going downhill, and luckily with everyone's help , it has been doing great! So, now for questions...

I know someone else said they have the same type of Paph (maybe Ross?). Does anyone know about it's flowering patterns (probably not the right word here). I got it in May and it was in flower at the time. 1 flower. It didn't look far along, but it only lasted about a week when I brought it home. I figured that was due to the change in environment and because I had it near a bunch of fruit which has since moved into the fridge (the fruit, not the plant, ).

So....now I am wondering how often this guy flowers. I thought it was once a year, but sure enough, it has a new bud developing! Is this normal for this Paph? Also, it looks like, maybe, just maybe there are two blooms developing in there Could this be correct? Can this Paph bloom more then one bloom per spike? I don't have experience with Paph buds , so I have no clue! Help! I say it looks like two blooms because the bottom of the bud has a slight split that looks like it is opening up to have two seperate buds. I will try to get some pics, but I don't want to hurt the bud by playing with it to get a shot of the split. However, the split does not look like it is a bad thing, it is still a healthy looking bud.

Any ideas, help, advice or anything on this Paph? Thanks as always to anyone with any thoughts on this!

Hi Jenn, I don't have any of this type but some Paphs will produce "twins" when they bloom. It's not uncommon, but I think it may also mean it likes the care it's getting. Not sure about frequency of bloom on these either. Whatever you're doing keep doing it!

Hi Jenn,
I'm excited about your paph. I bought this exact same cross in March, and will have to examine it more closely tomorrow to see if it too has more buds.
I have been told that paphs do bloom at different times of the year, kind of on and off, although I am not sure about this particular cross. I can't wait to see your pics!
I'll let you know tomorrow if mine has buds too...

Yes I have that one on bloom right now. It flowers from new, matured fans (growths.) Mine was in bloom when I bought (second flowering) and grew two new fans. It has been in bloom for maybe 4 weeks or so and still looks fresh. You can tell when a Paph is ready to bow out cause the dorsal petal turns brownish overnight, then the flower drops in a few days. Mine has two blooms right now along with several new growths started. Hope this helps.

Well, You've done a better job at growing yours than I have mine...mine has no buds, but it does have a nice new growth on it...perhaps it will bloom soon if it follows Ross' advice.

Here's mine right now after at least 4 weeks (I forget how long this has been in bloom - they tend to stay in bloom a long time, for me) No signs of wimping out yet

I have the same cross and my flower looks nothing like that, my dorsal is green and white with a purple tinted pouch and petals, not in flower at the moment but soon the bud is extremely slow to open for me, I think its been sitting there for seven weeks and hasnt even cracked yet.

Are you sure it's the same cross? There is a more common one against this cross that has different coloration as you suggest.

Im pretty sure its the same cross, I will be going to the growing area today, so I will see if it is the same cross, sounds very familiar, I dont have many of these weird crosses, most of mine are primaries or species, and giants at that.

Reason I ask, is Google doesn't come up with the original parent "Paph. Raisin Pie 'Hsinying' " but only a cross made with Supersuk, which is not the same as mine.
