Hi All, I got this cute little paph at our last Maine Orchid Society yankee swap. It had a small spike starting. Now it looks like it may be twins, but I'm not sure about how paphs unfold. What do you all think?
The other two cuties I got were Angraecum Longiscott and Angraecum Magdalenae.
Kiki, it kind of depends. Some sequential bloomers will only open one flower at a time. When the first one is done it drops off and the next one opens. Others can open a couple at a time. Multi florals can bloom out all the buds and have them all open at the same time. Remind me what the name of this one is. Looking at it you may have more than 2 buds in there, but it's kind of hard to tell from the picture.
Gina Short is Pinocchio (which blooms sequentially one or two blooms at a time for several months) X delenatii (which usually has two - one at a time with some overlap). The phil is multifloral with three to five opening one after the other holding them all for a time. With that mix you could be in for a nice long show.
Gina Short = Paph. Pinocchio X Paph. delenatii
Paph. Pinocchio = Paph. glaucophyllum x Paph. primulinum
Paph. Pinocchio is a multifloral sequential bloomer, delenatii is not (single at most double blooms only). I'm not sure if phillipinese is sequential or if they will all open at once.
HTH! Be sure and post ! It sounds like an interesting cross.
Thanks to you both! I have lots to learn. I have no idea how you got all that info from what I gave you.
Guess that will come in time. I will post pics....thanks again.
