Default Paph. Hysinying Majukun x Paph. Lawrenceanum: Strange Nubbin?

Paph. Hysinying Majukun x Paph. Lawrenceanum

This one seems quite healthy and happy. . .maybe needs a bit more light by the looks of its stretching posture but. . .what is that nubbin emerging out of the side of the new growth?

It's kinda high for a root. I would expect a spike to come out from in the center of the leaves, not out of the side like this.

What is it?

Thank you for your collaboration!

I thought it was peculiar too! I don't recall ever seeing anything like this on a Paph. . .not that I have much experience with them.

I hope its intentions are peaceful!

Gwen it's the right color for a root. They are kind of orangey. Kinda strange it's so high up.

If it's a root, and what else could it be, I am going to have a very hard time finding the right Erin Pot for it.

I am concerned that it doesn't know how high up the base of the new growth actually us.

Soooooo. . .guess, I'll increase the light and hope for the best.

Will post photos as the situation becomes more clear.
