Need help with a Paph Male
Unhappy Need help with a Paph

Greetings!

I am a new orchid fan/lover/ addicted person!
I bought a Paphiopedilum not long ago when it had a magnificent flower, since then the flower is gone and the leaves are turning yellow and it is sad. I had put it on a general orchid media and I recently changed it to a mixture with moiot well irrigated sand and orchid mix, and I also took it out of some light to a more shaeded temperate area. Any other suggestions?

Tungo

Hola Tungo! (otro venezolano aqui )

and I change to english, so that all in the forum can read this...

do you by chance has the name of your Paph? Or the type? Does it has spotted or uniform green leaves? If you have a picture, it would be much much better!!! Provide as much info about the plant you have, and it makes it a lot easier for the other to provide you the right feedback/advice!! I am quite new with Paphs and have them all in S/H... THEY LOVE IT!!! I think anybody in USA could provide you with better advice...

he-he... I was about to write you are living in Maracaibo, which mean very high temps... then I saw you are in Miramar

Ramon:

My Paph has green leaves with white spots, the flower is dark brown to black or burgundy in color, I do not ahve the name with me but I could get it from the plant at home, I will post a picture later.

the reason asking for the colour of the leaves, is because I thought you were in Maracaibo and therefore spotted leaves would do better under those conditions...

here you can find good info for Paph cultivation:
http://www.orchidboard.com/Paphioped...ure-Care-Sheet AOS | Paphiopedilum

but as I said, let those in the states give you better tipps, especially regarding which culture medium you should use or easily find in the USA.

(I can only suggest S/H - semihydro- wich works perfect for my Paphs...)
