Default Paphiopedilum fairrieanum

Greetings, everyone!

The first of my (multiple) Paphio. fairrieanum has just opened. This one is a first bloom seedling, and I accidentally forgot the spike was going to get bigger so it eventually bumped into the upper shelf, deforming the top part of the flower a bit... It still looks really cute, and is slightly fragrant (can't really explain the smell, it's sort of an overly sweet, fading Cattleya flower smell, if that helps). Hopefully there will be another one blooming soon, so I will post more pictures when that happens!

Please enjoy

These sure are one of my favourites, ahahah! I absolutely adore the vietnamense and the malipoense as well, but I can't really fit them anywhere at the moment... Maybe in a couple of years, when I get my own place!

Also, here is the second one. The flower is much larger (and the plant itself is also much bigger), the smell is the same. This is a second bloom plant, so it's no wonder the size is a lot different (once this bloom fades I'll finally try to repot it and get it out of the ugly nursery pot it came in last year).

These get pretty much the same treatment as all my other paphs, being considerably wetter during the summer months (as temperatures here get quite hot, some days even hitting or surpassing 40°C), a bit drier during winter, fertilised weakly all year long (a bit more during summer, as the cattleyas get fertilised on the same schedule). They're sitting on the bottom shelves, protected from sunlight, closer to the humidifier and the fan, but with some growlights on top.
