The switch from summer care to winter care is a killer situation for many orchids.
Raise your light level if it is too low. The correct light to be at is the light that causes new shoots (leafy growths from the base, pseudopods in other orchids). So, not enough light (no growths, no spikes) too much light, generally burns, sun burns, leaves turning red etc.

They grow in small leaf litter which keeps them moist, and are often wedged between rocks or on slopes, which allows for good drainage.
50/50 is not great odds.
