This makes me want to try Paphs. I have been tossing around that idea for a while, but am afraid to try terrestrials.

these are extraterrestrials

they grow in bark and perlite.

large chunky bark, perlite, and charcoal. a simple mix you cant over water.

The switch from summer care to winter care is a killer situation for many orchids.

Raise your light level if it is too low. The correct light to be at is the light that causes new shoots (leafy growths from the base, pseudopods in other orchids). So, not enough light (no growths, no spikes) too much light, generally burns, sun burns, leaves turning red etc.

They grow in small leaf litter which keeps them moist, and are often wedged between rocks or on slopes, which allows for good drainage.

50/50 is not great odds.
