Default Paphiopedilum HsingyingxHiloKey getting leggy

Hi -

I got this paph approx 4years ago, in flower, which was lovely, and the leaves can't be beat. After it finished, I left it alone for a couple years, where it did nothing, and we both ignored each other. Fast forward to this year, when I decided to start treating my plants better, and set up a pair of Yescom LED grow lights.

Within weeks, I started to see more growth activity (the second fan of leaves). I repotted in fresh medium, same size pot, weakly weekly, etc. My question to this group is - the second fan of leaves seems to be getting pretty leggy, which was not the habit of the original plant. I thought maybe it's not getting enough light, and dropped the grow light from 18" to 12" the other day - not enough time to notice a change. Wanted to ask here as well to see if there's something else I'm missing.

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

Sometimes they just do that. It looks like it's getting enough light.

Happily this plant now has a full flower spike developed and about 2.5" tall. I hope it doesn't open until I get back from Christmas travels!

You also need to relabel the plant.

The cross is not Hsinying x Hilo Key, it is Hsinying Citron x Hilo Key Lime, which has been registered as Hilo Double Lime.
