Help request for Paphiopedilum stonei and rothschildianum
Hello, everyone. I need some cultural advice regarding these two species, which I just received as a well-intentioned gift from my partner. He thought they looked "cool," so he bought them for me (they're not in flower; he just purchased them after calling a commercial grower he knows that I've bought from in the past--even though none of those purchases have been of paphs). He doesn't grow orchids and knows nothing about the collection in our home, which consists mainly of a variety of species that all go into a four-season sunroom for the winter months, where the night temperatures remain in the low to mid 50's and days can get into the mid to upper 70's. And there are no other paphiopedilums in my collection.
I have read that this temperature range is okay for rothschildianum during the winter months. But everything I've read about stonei indicates that it's a strictly warm-growing species. For those of you who grow either of these species, is my understanding correct? Is there anything additionally that I should keep in mind for these two, as far as their culture goes (light, water, fertilizer)?
Thanks in advance to anyone who's willing to provide some assistance.
Steve
