My first Orchid-Paph
I just read the thread about Paph's in spag.Since I am new to orchids,I thought I would post some pics of this orchid and show how it came to be from Lowe's.I keep reading about air ciculation for orchid roots,so I'm concerned about that and the planting medium. The Paph is planted in all spagnum moss inside an opaque plastic pot,and was then set in a regular clay pot.The spag is very wet.
For now,the plant will be kept on my outside deck-no direct light, but not in the dark, either.I'm in central FL and this will be summer weather -average 90° daytime and maybe as low as 74° at night.Humidity runs around 75-80%,or higher. The plant was grown in Acadia,FL,about 150 miles south of me,but I'm sure it was grown in a greenhouse.
Should I keep the roots wet all the time? Will they get the air ciculation neccessary the way it is now planted?
I hope I can get my pics posted.I resized them to around 100K.Included is a pic of the Paph name which looks really complicated to me.Orchid books and a light meter are on my shopping list.
Thanks so much.
