Hi Helen

I use CIL brand, you should be able to pick this up just about anywhere. I like the texture of this fiber, not over milled as some other brands are. I just open the bag and use, no fuss.

I know it's some type of mineral, not sure if it's calcium...When I have more time I'll have to check into it more, unless of course someone else on the forum knows...pls chime in.

With all the interest in deep pots for Paphs, why can't we find something? I'm all for cutting off water or juice bottles, but come on folks, something's wrong here! I like to water mine based on appearance and the only Paph "bands" available are solid black. Hard to see what's going on. I really think either Paph growers aren't saying what they want, or Paph growers don't know what they want.

I agree! I mean, plastic pots arent spectacular to look at, but I prefer them to cut- up juice bottles and such!! haha. Its like keeping nice patio plants in large ice cream containers!

Growing in sphag will only make it worse!

Using regular soil as potting material is the best

Don't use big pot, use one that just fit the root of your orchid

Actually, I have both my paphs in sphag, and they are doing great! I guess it really depends on the grower!
