Paph parishii culture question
Default Paph parishii culture question

Does anyone grow a Paph. parishii? I'm curious what type of light intensity you give this one.

I've been growing it outside (southern California), shaded, and moist. I was reading that multi-florals tend to prefer bright light but this particular species prefers low light.

I've had it for about three months now and it is inching (?) along quite slowly. The newest leaf is growing steadily a millimeter or two a week for the past 2 months. It's hard for me to tell if this thing is happy or not...

I have sev. paphs and phrags but not this one. Your culture sounds correct and plant looks great -they're very slow growers. I see it came from Fred Clarke and he's very receptive to questions. slipperorchids.info is a site I refer to and find useful.

Looks very happy to me. The leaf color is exactly what you want. I'd leave it where it is.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep it this way for now.

I contacted Fred a while back and he just mentioned that it would do well outside where we live and to keep it moist all summer.

Since I live in an apartment, I can't put shade cloths on my patio and tune the light my plants receive. I can basically provide direct light or shade. Since the Paph. philippinense I got recently seems to be happy in nearly direct light, I was curious what to do with the parishii.
