First bloom on the 2nd mature growth. This is a sequential bloomer. After 4 flowers, I will cut the flower stem off so to conserve energy for new growth(s).
I put cinnamon powder on all of my orchids (except cattaleya and my precious C. goeringii) as a cat detterent. My C. goeringii collection is grown in separate locations (it changes according to the 4 seasons) where the cats cannot get to them. If I don't apply cinnamon powder after each watering, they will try to eat leaves...
Thanks for sharing that information! I'm sure that will help some people with orchids and cats!!
I have a cat, but fortunately mine doesn't eat orchids or harms them. But for those orchid growers with cats that do -------- will remember to pass this one on ..... the cinnamon method! Handy to know.
