Good evening,

Im having what looks like leaf burn on some of my paphs. Is this due to fertilizer or light or something else. Please advice.

because i'm a relatively new grower who hasn't dealt with pests/diseases very much, i can't say whether it's caused by a pathogen. BUT i can tell you that several of my phals (which like low light) have developed that strange pitting/scarring due to being exposed to direct light for much too long, so it may be a lighting issue. the leaves on your paph look like a pale green, almost a bit yellow, which is a symptom of overexposure to light. i searched up paph venustum and it seems that the species is more shade-loving.

Thanks for confirming. I was suspecting too much light also.

Do you have access to a good magnifier, say 10x or better? I would check for insects. To my mind it doesn't exhibit the usual signs of sunburn.

That is neither nutritional nor light-related. I'd be looking for insects/mites as well.

Hi Ray, so i went and bought a magnifier. Seems i have a mite infestation. Small red mites it looks like. How can i control them in a home setting?
