They Followed Me Home
While I was out yesterday visiting someone I met through our local orchid society (Ron at Taylor Orchids) I found these guys just hanging out and well, they followed me home

All beauties
Most people don't realize that those little roots are actually legs
How is it you get the best paphs to follow you home?
Do you lead the way with bits of orchid fertilizer to your door or spray yourself with orchid hormone?

Doc, 3 slippers followed me home last weekend. I think one of mine is the same as your #6 pic. The tag on mine only says Paph. liemianum though. Are they the same? They look the same.

Terri, it might be. Paph chamberainianum is a species and the variation of that species is "Liemianum'.
Dorothy, no I don't do anything that fancy. I just offer them a great place to hang out hehehehe

Here is chamberlainianum

and liemianum

Looks like the dorsal is different on chamberlainianum. It also appears that liemianum was a var of chamberlainianum but got renamed. Probably way more than anyone wanted to know.

OK, I stand corrected, thank you. both names, chamberlainianum and liemianum are individual species. The plant I have may have been named because it has the "look of" the latter. Beats me....I just enjoy the beauty of the flower.....maybe I'm just too simple about all of this??????

Dorothy, I can't share every one of my secrets with you But it's nice that you ask. Tell me, do you raise your orchids in a GH, windowsill or ????? I visit my daughter in the city every now and then. She is in grad school at Pratt (Manhatten campus)...maybe next time I might venture out to the Island... it's been a very long time since I've been out there.
