Not sure about the air cone pot, will the water be able to wick up to the plant? Not sure how that would work.

My Grande is in a 5 inch aircone pot in bark and moss, sitting in about an inch of water.
Since adding the water to the tray, the plant has responded, with the new growths swelling noticeably in a few days. However, the added moisture has caused a patch of brown rot to reawaken at the base of one growth! I have had to deal with rot on this plant three times now! Aagh!

Oh I wouldn't like that. I hope you can get it back under control. I have a 6 inch aircone and a 5 but I just checked and it's in a 7 1/2 inch clay now. So maybe I should just put it back in there and also put it back in coconut mix as it seems to be happy this way.

As I have never used it before I have no idea about that. Like I said above perhaps I shouldn't change a thing for it. I just could be overthinking things. It has been very happy in what it is in now and it was last re-potted in 7/6/13.

Just a quick update.. My grande is doing really well with its wet feet. I fill the saucer up as much as I can with RO water about twice a week. I am on my 9th bloom and it is starting a new fan. Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement.
